CICC can only process biological materials which are allocated to BSL-1 or BSL-2 (BSL: Biological Safety Level). The attempt use of the CICC microbial materials is for research use, any commercial use of CICC strains should get the approval from CICC in advance.

 

Import Regulations:

It is the sole responsibility of customers to check the import regulations of their countries for the microbial materials ordered. All documents should be prepared in advance in order to receive the microbial strains in time. Any ignorance of the regulations can lead to considerable delay, penalties or even damage. Neither CICC nor China National Research Institute of Food & Fermentation Industries can consider claims or accept responsibility for the damages or injuries resulting from such situation.

 

Packaging:

In general, a microbial strain is send as freeze-dried or lyophilized cultures in a glass ampoule though China Post by airmail or through an international courier company. Questions on how to revive cultures please refer to the instructions provided with the ampoule. In case, a strain cannot be provided as a freeze-dried culture, the customer will be informed and an active culture in a glass tube will be send instead. To open a freeze-dried ampoule and dispatch strains on agar slants is also possible, but additional fee will be charged.

Packing for BSL-1, 2 microorganisms meet the triple containment requirements. In case, special conditions and extra charges for shipment occurred, CICC will notify customers when it is necessary.

Shipment:

The microbial strains are shipped through mail by China Post or international courier company, all transport costs will be charged to users. Please remit payment in accordance with the details in the proforma invoice.

All consignments containing microorganisms are well packed to prevent any damage during the transit. As soon as the consignments are received, it is suggested to transfer cultures immediately in an appropriately equipped laboratory. Before use, store cultures in a cool and dark place if not stated otherwise. The cultures must be handled by, or under the supervision of, persons trained and competent in microbiological techniques.

If the culture cannot be shipped within the normal period, the customer will be contacted with an estimated dispatch date.

Any problems about the mistakes in shipment, complaints about contamination or non-viability of the cultures (if instructions for revival, cultivation and storage have been followed properly) can be accepted and should be emailed to CICC within two months after the date of dispatch.
